With a faculty of over 30 professionally trained artists and educators, we’re dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists and art lovers. We serve over 700 students each year through more than 300 courses. You can choose from one-on-one lessons or group classes in a wide range of subjects, including:

  • Instrumental Studies: Explore more than 20 instruments, from piano to percussion.

  • Voice: Discover your inner singer and perfect your technique.

  • Group Music and Ensembles: Join an ensemble, orchestra, or choir and experience the power of making music with others.

  • Dance: Move and express yourself through various styles.

  • Drama: Learn the craft of acting and storytelling.

  • Visual Arts: Create and innovate with painting, drawing, and more.

  • Fencing: Develop discipline and focus with the art of the sword.

Our students range from toddlers taking their first steps into a dance studio to senior citizens learning to play a new instrument. As a division of Shenandoah University’s Conservatory, our classes are conveniently located in downtown Winchester and on the main campus.

Ready to find your passion? We invite you to join our vibrant community and begin your artistic journey!

  • Private Music Lessons:
    • Registering for Private Music Lessons begins with submitting an inquiry on our private lessons page. Once the inquiry is received, the SCAA Main Office will contact you with information and rates on our private music instructors. Instructors manage their own schedules, so the first step to registration is to contact the instructors to see if they are a good fit, schedule and personality-wise, for you/ your student. A trial lesson or meet and greet can be arranged prior to beginning lessons. Once you have selected an instructor and confirmed lesson dates, times, and length with them, you can then register for lessons through the SCAA website. Be sure to include lesson length (30, 45, or 60 minutes) and the amount of lessons being registered for (see “class timelines” below). Private Music Lesson students must complete their registration with the Main Office to be fully registered for lessons.
