SCAA Dance Recital

Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy (SCAA) offers a comprehensive study of dance in a variety of mediums. Study begins with an emphasis in creativity and the establishment of a strong foundation in the specific dance style. The progression of study allows each student to develop strength, musicality, coordination and advanced level dance technique. Classes (exceptions noted) culminate with recitals in May. Placements in proceeding levels are by teacher recommendation or audition.

Students taking one dance class pay a Dance Performance Fee ($55) in addition to the class tuition. Students taking two  dance classes pay a Dance Performance Fee ($90) in addition to the class tuition. Students taking three or more  dance classes pay a Dance Performance Fee ($120) in addition to the class tuition. There are no costume fees collected during the year. *As our students continue to grow and excel, we strongly encourage a minimum of two ballet classes a week for students who wish to do pointe-work in Ballet levels 3, 4, 5 and Advanced. Your options would include: taking another level (up or down) in addition to your core level class recommended by your teacher, enroll in a Ballet Technique non-recital class, or consult your instructors about other alternatives.

Pointe work is not a requirement for continued study in these upper level ballet classes. Students can choose to take Ballet levels 3, 4, 5 and Advanced in ballet slippers.

Ballet/Pointe Strengthening

Students will engage in Theraband and strength-building exercises on the floor and at the barre. These targeted exercises will focus on those muscles necessary for proper support, alignment, and technique used for ensuring strong, manageable, and secure pointe work. This is a 10-week, non-recital class from October 8-December 10.
