Check out our summer dance offerings and warm up for the fall!

We look forward to the return to classroom learning at the John Kerr Building with this session. Our summer dance program will have something for students of all ages.

Here are our building “COVID” protocols. Please keep in mind that we expect the situation to change (for the better) as we approach fall. We will keep you posted with evolving details. However, as of June 1, we expect the following:

*For us to reduce occupancy in the building, please drop your student off whenever possible
*Students, faculty and staff will be masked
*Unvaccinated visitors/parents/guardians will be masked
*We are practicing courteous social distancing
*Our emphasis is on in-person learning, although, should your student or family still require digital learning, please contact us for some flexible virtual friendly options.

Registration Deadline: Two weeks prior to the start of the class
(You are welcome to call the office for availability up to the class start date)

*Summer class tuition is non-refundable within the 2-week period before the class start date

Junior Ballet Technique – This class is full. Register to be placed on a waitlist. If we are able to increase the capacity, we will notify the waitlist.

Age: Intermediate dancers age 10 to 12 years

SCAA offers this 6-week session, on Mondays from June 14-August 2 (No class July 5 & 12). Tights, leotards and ballet slippers are required. Dance skirts or dance shorts and pointe shoes are optional. The last 30-min of class will be Intro to Pointe*.

*Must have permission from instructor to get pointe shoes.

*Note: If a family vacation is scheduled during one of the Ballet Technique weeks, we will prorate for 1 class only.

Advanced Ballet Technique

Age: Intermediate/Advanced dancers age 13+ years

SCAA offers this 6-week session, on Mondays from June 14-August 2 (No class July 5 & 12).Tights, leotards and ballet slippers are required. Dance skirts or dance shorts and pointe shoes are optional.

Intermediate Contemporary

Age: 9 to 12 years

This 1-week (June) and 2-week (July) offering of Contemporary dance for intermediate students is designed to build awareness of technical and artistic skills, quickly. While the material of each Contemporary session will vary, all classes will include conditioning warm up, across the floor technique, and technical combinations exploring individual artistry. Students may take one or both sessions. Leggings or dance shorts, tank tops or form-fitting t-shirts that allow instructors to see placement. Footwear: socks, ballet shoes, or barefeet.

Intro to Pre-Ballet – Class is Full!

Age: 3.5 to 5 years 

Students will be introduced to the world of creative movement and the fundamentals of ballet. Lessons focus on locomotor skills, musicality, and creativity as children explore their natural abilities through movement and dance. No previous training is required. Students may wear dance apparel or clothes that allow for easy movement. Footwear: ballet slippers, socks, or barefeet.

Intro to Ballet

Age: 6 to 9 years 

Designed for beginners or current students. This class will introduce dancers to the fundamentals of technique and artistry. Students will gain new skills and build confidence for continued studies during the academic year. No previous training is required. Students may wear dance apparel or clothes that allow for easy movement. Footwear: ballet slippers, socks, or barefeet.

Storybook Ballet

Age: 9 to 12 years

Each day we will learn choreography and variations from world renowned ballets. Join us as we learn about new composers, choreographers, and stories. It will be a magical journey into some of the most famous ballets. Must wear ballet attire. Leotard, tights, ballet shoes and hair in a bun.

Intro to Dance Styles

Age: 7 to 9 years

Ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance are just some of the dance styles we will venture into. Each day the students will take part in a different genre dance class to find which style is perfect for them. Wear comfortable dancewear or clothes that allow for easy movement. Ballet shoes, bare feet, or socks may be worn.

Choreography!

Age: 9 to 12 years

Let’s make a dance! Come acquire some tools for creating your own dances. Class includes a warm-up followed by exploration of choreographic principles, and in-class presentations of your works. Wear comfortable dancewear or clothes (no loose shorts without tights or bike shorts underneath), and footwear of your choice (sneakers, jazz shoes, bare feet, dance paws, socks or ballet slippers).
