Registration deadline for classes is one week prior to the start of the class 

Summer class tuition is non-refundable within the 1-week period before the class start date. 

Summer Dance


Adult Ballet

Age: 16 years and up

One 8-week session. Wear movement friendly clothing. Ballet shoes are not required. You may wear socks or bare feet.

Tuition: $90

Beginning Ballet Technique

Age: 9 to 12 years

Two 4-week sessions are offered on Mondays from June 1-June 20 and June 29-July 20. Tights or leggings, leotards and ballet slippers are suggested. Dance skirts or shorts are optional.

Intermediate Ballet Technique

Age: Intermediate (Advanced dancers welcome) level for age 12 years and up

Two 5-week sessions are offered on Wednesdays from May 27-June 24 and July 1-July 29. Tights or leggings, leotards and ballet slippers are suggested. Dance skirts or shorts are optional.

This Pointe Barre is being offered as an ad-on to the Wednesday Intermediate Ballet Technique classes. Two 5-week sessions are offered on Wednesdays from May 27-June 24 and July 1-July 29. Tights or leggings, leotards and pointe shoes are suggested.

Lyrical dance draws on the dance vocabularies of Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Contemporary Dance. These classes for intermediate and intermediate-advanced dance students include a center floor warm-up and combinations performed to soulful popular music. Convertible or footless tights, leotards and bare feet, socks or dance paws are suggested.

Class Times: Tuesdays, July 21-August 11, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

These classes for beginner and beginner-intermediate dance students include a center floor warm-up, and a dance combination performed to soulful popular music. Convertible or footless tights, leotards and bare feet, socks or dance paws are suggested.

Storybook Ballet – Carnival

Age: 6 to 8 years

(with one year of dance experience)

Camille Saint-Saens created an amazing work of music entitled Carnival of the Animals. The music beautifully describes the movements of the animals. During this camp your dancer will be taught choreographed movements to accompany the music to bring the animals to life. Wear comfortable dancewear or clothes that allow for easy movement. Ballet shoes, bare feet, or socks may be worn.

*Materials will be provided for the art project however you will need to pick up your materials from SCAA prior to the start of the class. More information upon registration.

Story Book Ballet – Sleeping Beauty

Age: 8 to 11 years

Three-day session. Traditional ballet classes that include barre and center work followed by learning a dance from the Sleeping Beauty ballet. Tights or leggings, Leotards and Ballet slippers are suggested, or wear your favorite ballet costume!

Introduction to Pre-Ballet

Age: 3 to 5 years 

Four-week session of once-a-week class. Students will be introduced to the world of creative movement and the fundamentals of ballet. Lessons focus on gross motor skills, musicality, and creativity as children explore their natural abilities for movement and dance. No previous training is required. Students may wear dance apparel or clothes that allow for easy movement. Ballet slippers, bare feet, or socks may be worn.

Introduction to Ballet

Age: 6 to 9 years

This class will introduce dancers to the technique and artistry of ballet, gain new skills, and build confidence for continued studies during the academic year. No previous training is required. Students may wear dance apparel or clothes that allow for easy movement. Ballet slippers, bare feet, or socks may be worn.

Ballet and Variations

Age: 12 and up

This three-day session includes a traditional ballet barre followed by learning a variation from Sleeping Beauty. Tights or leggings, leotards and ballet slippers are suggested. Dance skirts or shorts and pointe shoes are optional.

Choreography

Age: 12 and up

This three-day session is designed to expose dance students to the fundamentals of dance composition through the exploration of the elements and processes of dance-making. Wear comfortable dancewear or clothes and footwear of your choice (sneakers, jazz shoes, bare feet, dance paws, socks or ballet slippers).

This four-day class provides an introduction to some of the dance techniques and skills used in Musical Theatre. Throughout this four-day course, students will build confidence along with learning new dance skills as they learn fun combinations choreographed to music from Broadway shows. Comfortable clothes/dancewear and sneakers or jazz shoes are suggested.
