Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy

Fostering the Next Generation

Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy celebrates its 40th year in 2017. SCAA was founded in 1977 to provide enrichment opportunities and pre-professional studies in the fine arts for students of all ages and abilities. Our faculty of over 70 professionally trained musicians, dancers and educators are ready to share their expertise with you and your family and foster the next generation of performing artists.

And just how does one foster the next generation? Very gradually and carefully and with a dedication to practice. SCAA understands the power of the arts to inspire and lead the best minds of the future. The arts enrich learning and activate the brain in a way no other subject is able. Classes in music, dance, and theatre help develop the lifelong skills your child can use for confidence, intelligence and cultural understanding. Dedicated study in the arts is a secret powerhouse component to a well-rounded education that has transferrable skills to many other applicable areas of life.

Its more than the lessons learned at the barre and time spent practicing an instrument. Its consistency with class traditions; the lineup ritual before and after class and learning to tie your shoes. Learning not just to play the guitar, but how to tune it and maintain the strings. Most importantly, the problem-solving skills and continuous dedication it takes to learn a craft such as playing an instrument or a particular style of dance are useful skills you need to have in order to succeed in college and beyond. This is where those lessons are first engrained. Habits of excellence are trained and practiced.

It’s about hope for the future through the power of the arts to inspire and carry forward positive intentions for beauty in the world. Art comes to life through the passion of our faculty and their commitment. Art forms live on through our next generation of students.
